My washer, dryer, and a little check-in 🫧

Hello!

I read something years ago in Gay Hendricks' book The Big Leap that has stuck with me ever since: right before you're about to uplevel, do something big, or step into something meaningful, there's often a hiccup. It's not a sign to stop, but more like your body and your life doing one last check-in. Asking you..."Are you sure you want this?"

Well, this week gave me a very real taste of that.

Our washer and dryer reached the end of their life... totally normal, no big deal. Except the new ones arrived wrong, and the installer they sent managed to break our water valve in the process. It was a whole thing. Water everywhere. But instead of spiraling, I recognized exactly what it was: one more check-in before the Aligned Sanctuary Retreat this weekend. So I acknowledged it, decided to keep moving, and just like that, things started falling into place.

Do I have a backlog of laundry right now? You betcha! But I'm even more committed to giving these eight women a truly magical weekend.

Which, in its own roundabout way, ties right into this week's episode.

I'm joined by my podcasting friend Stacey Hutson, host of The Next Phase Podcast, and we talk about her decluttering journey... including a line from decluttering coach Dana K. White that reframed everything for her: decluttering not to impress anyone, but so her home stops holding her back. We also get into "body doubling," a simple trick for actually getting things done instead of just researching how to do them.

This week, try this: Next time something goes sideways right before something important, pause before reacting. Ask yourself: is this a stop sign, or just a check-in?

Enjoy the rest of your week, and thank you for being here.

Warmly, Lisa Morton

Greetings! Eighteen years ago this week, I married my best friend. Don and I don't do anything extravagant for our anniversary, that's not really been us. Just a nice quiet dinner together. Every year though I do find myself wanting to mark it in some way at home. This year, that meant giving our master bedroom a proper sparkle. I cleared the surfaces, freshened the linens, and set out a pair of small red candles on the dresser. That room happens to sit in the love and relationship area of...

Hello! I have some fun news to share before we get into this week's episode: Aligned at Home is now on the shelves of a few wonderful independent bookstores! I'll be sharing more about who they are and how you can visit (or order) very soon, so keep an eye on my social media over the next week or two for all the details. It feels especially fitting to share that news this week, because this episode is a big one. We're closing out year three of Feng Shui Living podcast and stepping into year...

Hello! Full disclosure, my husband and I went on our first bike ride of the summer... at the very end of August! We got rained on, of course, but we still had a great time. No clever tie-in today, I just had to share. In this week's episode… it's a fire horse year check-in. I'm sharing how this year has actually played out for me and for several clients, plus a few journal prompts and grounding tips to help you close out this fiery season with intention as we move into fall. Journal prompts...
