Better Sleep, Better Life: Feng Shui Strategies for a Restful Bedroom

Hello!

How have you adjusted to the time change? It always takes me a day or two to re-acclimate & adjust my sleep schedule. To me, these little changes really highlight the value of quality sleep. Did you know that adults typically require about 20%–25% of their sleep to be in deep sleep, amounting to one to two hours per night? This phase is crucial for feeling refreshed and well-rested. It's also when our bodies do a majority of the heavy-duty healing; repairing tissues, cleaning out damaged cells, detoxification, etc.

My assistant recently got an Oura ring so she could learn more about her sleep cycles. Despite getting 7.5-8 hours of sleep each night, she was still waking up feeling groggy & unrefreshed. The data from the ring indicated that she was only getting 10-30 minutes of deep sleep each night. No wonder she didn't feel rested! Armed with new knowledge, we set out to experiment with how to increase those precious deep sleep minutes. In addition to my tried & true Feng Shui cures, here are a few things she did to help maximize her deep sleep time:

  • Reducing screen time/ changing screens to a more red color so they aren't quite so bright. Bright screens signal to your body that it's daytime, which increases production of cortisol instead of melatonin.
  • Eating before sunset. Eating late at night engages your metabolism so you will be digesting instead of resting. This elevates your heart rate slightly, which prevents you from dropping into that quality deep sleep.

Today's episode is all about sleep! I share seven simple Feng Shui strategies for you to implement at home that can help you increase your deep sleep. I hope you find them as useful as I do!

Have a wonderful rest of your week! Thank you so much for being here.

xoxo, Lisa Morton

Hello! I hope you're having a great week so far! Here in Indiana, the bulbs have just begun to bloom. It's a relief to see tangible evidence that life is blossoming again! Speaking of plants, did you know they play an important role in Feng Shui? Plants represent the wood element and symbolize growth, prosperity, and positive energy.
